IB reflection

The IB program workshop, which I attend, helps me on many different levels. First of all, I understand how I can integrate students with different cultures in the learning process and help them feel that they belong in the classroom and school community. This is done either through reading and laboratory resources, through my personal development, or through the exchange of ideas from colleagues. So, my students have the opportunity to come in contact with other cultures and civilizations, in a completely effortless way. Language integration, through the techniques I learned from the first section of the seminar, is key to successful teaching. Another important element that I learned through this seminar is the profiles of the students. IB does not treat each human-student as a robot, but examines the capabilities of each human individually and takes seriously the fact that each human assimilates new knowledge in a different way. This element will help me as a teacher to organize my lesson in a completely different way. I will take into account how each student learns and I will examine the dynamics of each child and therefore of my class. Each student or a small group of students will have a specific role and together they will unite the learning puzzle in a fun and experiential way. I'll encourage students to engage with local and global issues and challenges by reinforcing the questions they have to discover the world. I will try to extract their already existing knowledge about the world and the different cultures and then, depending on the class dynamics and the profiles of the students, I will make the action plan of my lesson and my projects.
